I loved this book. It's full of positive stories and empowering information to help readers achieve their best possible birth. Before I read this book, I didn't know how much I didn't know! So often we trust healthcare providers to have all the answers for us, and that the road they lead us down will be in our best interests. But there are so many factors in the hospital system that can interfere with having a great birth. From strict policies and procedures to the individual interests of our care providers. This book gives you the information on the hurdles you may encounter and how to overcome them so that you go into the labour and birth adventure empowered, and educated, with all the tools to have the best birth experience possible. Written in a well structured, positive, and uplifting way, Cheryl's experience and wealth of knowledge is evident. A brilliant read! - Jaki
OMG this is the book I needed years ago when I had my 3 children. You don't realize how important it is to have a good birth experience until you've had a bad one. Nor how important it is to be informed about your options, supported in your decisions and well prepared for the big day. Whether you have had a bad experience or want to avoid having one - this book will get you well on the way to achieving a positive birth experience. Great read!! - Selena Rollason
I wish I had Stork Talk for my first child. Finally, a book that helps families prepare for their hospital birth from an outside perspective. Cheryl's 30 years experience shows that she understands the questions families have - for hospitals, for obstetricians, for midwives. These are the questions I was looking for in the first trimester but couldn't find - so I didn't ask and I certainly didn't get the answers. Stork Talk goes beyond the practical preparation and looks at emotional preparation also. It has sections that helps Dad/partners prepare also. It gets families thinking of things such as finances. It has case studies and scenarios for when things don't go as expected (which, is often!) This is much much much more than just a childbirth book. Cheryl has understood the broader issues and brought them into a one-stop-shop of knowledge. I don't think this book replaces the practical baby development books, but it certainly complements them and broadens them out. This will be my 'go to' book for subsequent births. - Cherie
